Community Donors Help Save Lives with Aloha Mobile Blood Drive
Bloodworks Northwest's "Bloodmobile" makes a stop at the Aloha Community Library

Donors stepped up to the colorful, specially-outfitted bus for the first Bloodworks Northwest mobile blood drive at the Aloha Community Library Thursday, April 10.
“We were grateful to have a first-time Bloodworks donor at this drive!"
The local representative for Bloodworks says the steady stream of regular donors donated multiple units of life-saving units of blood and that “we were grateful to have a first-time Bloodworks donor at this drive!" Each donor on Thursday was entered into a contest for a chance to win a Hawaiian Trip.
Bloodworks Senior Media Content Strategist John Yeager told The Aloha Free press “it'd be amazing if someone from Aloha, Oregon won a free trip to Hawaii because they donated blood in Aloha.”
“This year the situation is critical and leading to serious issues in blood supply to local hospitals.”
Thursday’s drive was especially vital due to current low levels of available live-saving blood this time of year. Yeager says that blood donations are often low during Spring and Summer school breaks and 2025 is no exception. A Bloodworks press release says that “this year the situation is critical and leading to serious issues in blood supply to local hospitals. This sharp downturn has led to an emergency blood shortage.”
Bloodworks is urging previous and first-time donors to book appointments at local centers and drives. All blood types are welcome. Type O is especially needed, Bloodworks says. Donors do not need to know their blood type ahead of time. Donating blood takes less than an hour from check-in to enjoying a post donation cookie. Actual donation time is only about 10 minutes.
The next mobile blood drive at the Aloha Community Library is Wednesday, June 11 from 10 am to 4 PM. Register today to donate.
