Welcome to the Aloha Free Press
A big name for a little monthly news bulletin covering our slice of unincorporated territory in Washington county, Oregon.
Even as a collection of neighborhoods without a town hall or a “city center,” Aloha is busy and has people wanting to create a strong community. In any attempt to build any sort of community - one needs good communication.
There isn’t currently an easily accessible source for the average Aloha resident to get caught up on our community in one place. Just to find out what issues are being discussed by governing bodies or community organizations takes a bit of elbow grease. Aloha is somewhat covered through other publications seated in our Beaverton and Hillsboro neighbors. Washington County action details are well documented if you know where to look on their website. Sometimes it’s just luck to catch a post about a community event on social media. To stay on top of things one has to know where to look - and what to look for. As I journey on being more connected for myself, perhaps I can clear the path for you as well.
With my background in media, and a dose of good ol’ fashioned curiosity, my hope is for the Aloha Free Press to result in neighbors connecting with one another and taking opportunities to be involved in what happens in our own backyard.
